DAY 1 ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER
Welcome to Sri Lanka, our airport representative will meet, assist and introduce you to your driver guide for your tour of Sri Lanka. Relax and enjoy the drive from the Airport to Negombo.
DAY 2 SIGIRIYA
After breakfast leave for Sigiriya through the scenic country side. Check in to the hotel. An evening at leisure. Breakfast included.
DAY 3 ANURADHAPURA AND MIHINTALE
Morning leave for Anuradhapura The 4th century BC capital, a tour of the ancient ruins including the gigantic Stupas second in size to the Pyramids of Egypt and the Sri Maha Bodhi, said to be the oldest documented tree on earth. Continue to ‘Mihintale’ translated as ‘Mahindas’ Mountain, where the great Sinhalese king Devanampiyatissa was converted to Buddhism by Arahat Mahinda, the son of the last Buddhist emperor of India. Breakfast included.
DAY 4 SIGIRIYA AND POLONNARUWA
After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya, the 5th century AD rock fortress of King Kasyapa. The view of the surrounding countryside from the summit of the rock is spectacular. Your guide will tell you about the many legends surrounding King Kasyapa and his palace in the sky. The climb involves several hundred steps and is only suitable for the fit and mobile, but those not climbing can enjoy the fine gardens and ruins around the base of the spectacular rock. Afternoon visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Sightseeing in Polonnaruwa will include the statue of the great Sinhalese King Parakramabahu. The Ancient ruins including the area known as the Quadrangle, Thuparama Image House, The Gal Vihara – the fine detailed granite sculptures of the Lord Buddha, The Lankathilaka and the 12th century Lotus bath just to name a few. Breakfast included.
DAY 5 DAMBULLA
After breakfast leave for Dambulla. Visit the 1st century BC Dambulla Rock cave temples. The Rock cave temples consist of 5 caves which have been converted to shrines. During an invasion from South India in the 1st century BC, the Sinhalese king Walagambahu took refuge in the caves at Dambulla and through meditation gained the strength to drive the invaders away. As a token of gratitude he declared the caves as a sacred area and built the first cave shrine, since then 4 more caves were converted into shrines and the Rock cave temples of Dambulla is today an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists from around the world. Return to hotel for evening at leisure. Breakfast included
DAY 6 KANDY
After breakfast leave for Kandy. En-route visit a spice garden and a batik factory before arriving at your hotel in Kandy. Later in the evening the Drummers, Dancers & Fire walkers will entertain you at the Cultural show and thereafter visit the famous Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic)
DAY 7 KANDY
After breakfast commence a city tour on Kandy visiting the colorful and busy market place, the upper lake drive, Gem museum, the Arts & Crafts Center, and on to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The Pleasure gardens to Sinhalese Royalty before the British period, all plants and trees are marked with their botanical names, and the Orchid house has probably the largest variety of Orchids on the island. Breakfast included.
DAY 8 NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast depart for Nuwara Eliya. Enroute a visit to a high grown tea plantation / factory. After lunch take a short sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya which will include the Race Course, the Golf course, Central park & Lake Gregory. Breakfast included
DAY 9 YALA
After an early breakfast leave on a scenic drive to reach Ella which is blessed with some of the most beautiful views you could find in Sri Lanka. Some of the places you could see in Ella are the Ella Gap, Ravana Ella Falls, Little Adam’s Peak and Bambaragala Peak. Continue your journey to the jungles of Yala National Park. Breakfast included
DAY 10 YALA NATIONAL PARK
Early morning safari drive through the Yala National Park which an area of 1259 sq km is the biggest National Park in Sri Lanka. The Park is located 309 km south of Colombo on the southeast of the island. The national park is divided into Yala West (also called Ruhuna) and Yala East. Yala West or Ruhuna National Park is one of the best parks in the world to observe and photograph leopards. There are about 35 leopards in the park, which probably is the highest density anywhere in the world. Other animals that can be seen in the park are elephants, sloth bear, and spotted deer, barking deer, mouse deer, toque monkey, mongoose and crocodiles. Yala East contains a large variety of water birds. Return to the hotel. Afternoon leave on another exciting drive through Yala National park. Transfer to hotel for overnight stay
DAY 11 GALLE
After breakfast proceed to the port town of Galle. The town was founded by the Portuguese in 16th century. In 1598, the Portuguese built a small fort which was later extended. However, when the Dutch took over in 1640, they destroyed all traces of the Portuguese presence. In 1663, the Dutch built the 36-hectare Fort, which is now a World Heritage Site. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South and South-East Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and South Asian traditions. On arrival check on to your hotel inside the fort and take a short walking tour. Breakfast included.

A day at leisure to explore this fantastic and unique fort town. Breakfast included
